Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on 21st May 2025.

We at Shropshire Grief Tending CIC are working to make our offerings accessible to people all.

At Shropshire Grief Tending CIC, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone who engages with our work — in person and online. We recognise the importance of meeting the diverse needs of our community and aim to remove barriers wherever possible, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

1. Our Commitment

We strive to ensure that all individuals — regardless of physical ability, mental health, neurodivergence, gender identity, sexual orientation, or background — feel welcome, safe, and respected in our spaces.

2. Venue Accessibility

When organising in-person sessions or events, we carefully choose venues that offer:

  • Step-free access

  • Accessible toilet facilities

  • Clear signage and lighting

  • Parking and transport access where possible

If you have specific access needs, we encourage you to contact us before your session or event so we can make appropriate arrangements in advance.

3. Online Sessions

To improve accessibility for those unable to attend in person — whether due to disability, mental health needs, location, or personal comfort — we offer grief tending sessions and workshops online. These are conducted using platforms with built-in accessibility features such as closed captioning and screen reader compatibility.

4. Inclusive Practice

We are committed to holding space that is:

  • LGBTQ+ inclusive — We affirm and respect all gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations, and we aim to use inclusive language and practices in all our sessions.

  • Mental health informed — We recognise the complex interplay between grief and mental health, and we work gently and respectfully with those who may be navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or other emotional challenges.

  • Neurodiversity aware — We welcome neurodivergent individuals and are happy to adjust session structures to better suit your processing and sensory needs.

  • Physical disability aware - We welcome those with physical disabilities and are actively seeking venues that accommodate the physical needs of our clients.

5. Feedback and Ongoing Improvement

We are always learning and welcome feedback on how we can make our services more accessible. If you experience any barriers or have suggestions, please contact us directly at merryn@merryntenelach.com or 07538876217.

This statement is reviewed regularly and updated in line with best practice and legislative requirements.
